Acer Aspire S7-392-9890 13.3-Inch Touchscreen Ultrabook (Crystal White) – Light in Weight, not on Price
The new Aspire S7-392 Ultrabook keeps its beautifully slim profile. Now featuring a 4th generation Intel Core processor with Turbo Boost Technology, it is powerful enough to go up to 7 hours without a single charge. Its white Gorilla Glass 2 cover makes it tough and light. Packed with a multi-touch screen that supports 10 fingers at a time, it also stays strong in the memory and storage department with 8 GB DDR3 RAM and 256GB SSD.
Just like a smartphone, the backlit keyboard automatically illuminates to adjust to surrounding light. And lay it in your lap for as long as you like, for the Acer TwinAir cooling keeps the heat in check. Intel HD Graphics enhances the Windows 8 experience, as does the Optimized Dolby Advanced Audio v4 audio enhancement to two built-in stereo speakers. So far, so good. But here comes the cringe-worthy part; $1,599.92 for this featherweight may seem a bit much. Let’s find out!
THE PROS – Acer Aspire S7-392-9890 13.3-Inch Touchscreen Ultrabook
Premium Design; At a paper-thin 0.51-inches, the Aspire S7-392-9890 is Acer’s thinnest touchscreen Ultrabook yet. With its compact body slipped into a case made from Gorilla Glass 2, it is scratch resistant, easy to clean, tough and at the same time, appealing. Enjoy a ‘wobble-free’ computing experience with the Aspire S7-392-9890, thanks to the Dual-Torque Hinge. Easy to open with just a hand, it is also possible to completely flatten its display at 180 degrees.
7 Hours in Heaven; Your fingers may tire from all the tapping and swiping on the Aspire S7’s touchscreen, but its battery won’t tire from the strain. Apart from staying strong for a solid 7 hours, it is also capable of 80 days of standby power! With Acer Hybrid Standby Technology, if fully charged, the notebook enters a Deep Sleep mode after 75 minutes of Sleep mode, making this insane statistic possible.
Storage; Aside from the 8 GB DDR3 RAM, the Acer Aspire S7-392-9890 features a hard drive that is twice the rate of the traditional solid state drive. A 256GB SSD stuns you with its ultra velocity in RAID 0 configuration. If you’re worried about getting your work done in time, don’t! Even the Laptop Report lists this as one of the top pros for their Aspire S7-392-9890 review! Read the rest here.
THE CONS – Acer Aspire S7-392-9890 13.3-Inch Touchscreen Ultrabook
Keyboard & Mousepad; While the tactile feedback, the key press depth, as well as the backlight feature is all good, there is one problem. The keys don’t always register a command unless they have been pressed down right at the centre. So if you’re just touch-typing, prepare to go back and type again. The mousepad on the other hand, has its own saga. All it is, is a single piece of material, with no buttons. It may be sensitive enough to function well, but it still might not sit well with you if you’re used to touchpads with buttons.
Webcam; Even though the night sensors on the Aspire S7′s web camera are top notch, its resolution is a meek 0.9 MP. In other cons, there is an absence of F-keys. The laptop has no dedicated F-keys. Instead it uses the number keys along with the ‘Fn‘ button. The cover and screen are fingerprint magnets. And lastly, the laptop doesn’t come with an adapter. Unlike previous Aspire versions, this laptop does not include an ethernet dongle.
